Meet the Shrivers

With over 50 years of combined experience teaching ESL, English Language, English Literature, Psychology, History, Government and Economics on three continents in both public and private schools, in both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs and Nationally Board Certified, the Shrivers take to the podcast world.

Christy Shriver is an Advanced Placement English Language and Composition teacher, AP Language Exam Reader and APSI consultant for the College Board as well as an International Baccalaureate English Literature teacher. In addition she is a National Board Certified English teacher with a Master’s in her field and is also a certified Literacy Specialist. Christy has served on state test development committees and served as English department chair. Her ACT prep course has yielded significant improvement in student scores as well. Christy is a Washington D.C. native but spent the formative years of her childhood living in Brazil and later in Zimbabwe, Africa . In addition, Christy is a well seasoned traveler engaging the world both as tourist, student and social activist in various places including England, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Russia, South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Thailand, Viet Nam, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile and Bolivia.

Garry has taught AP Psychology, AP US History, AP US Government, AP Comparative Government, AP World History:Modern, IB History of the America’s and IB Psychology for over 30 years. In addition to his current teaching duties he works as a consultant to the College Board as an AP Psychology exam reader, exam rubric development committee member, AP Psychology workshop leader and Advanced Placement Summer Institute leader (APSI). His past experiences include being a test item writer for the national AP Psychology exam and working for ETS on the National Teacher Praxis Exam development committee for Psychology. His non academic interests include being a professional musician performing, creating and developing music and musicians in Memphis!
